There’s a joy in getting lost in a tale well told
… in the moments when you’re on the edge of your seat in anticipation, jumping out of your skin at a sudden twist, or giggling away at a character’s exploits – and even better when all of that’s in one story!
I have several story shows that are available for venues to book direct as stand-alone shows or as part of a wider programme. Shows can be tailored to your programme and your venue: theatres, churches, pubs, front rooms, care homes, prisons and pretty much anything in between all welcome! I’m also happy to take commissions for new work. My current shows are:
The Mermaid’s Song
A new story fashioned around the bones of a traditional tale. Following the epic tale of a mermaid separated from her kind at birth and her journey of love, loss, betrayal, hope and friendship. Both comic and moving this is one journey you will not forget in a hurry. (Adults only). See the trailer here:
Stories of Otherness
A collection of tales exploring the notion of how we experience, understand, celebrate and value difference, including traditional, self-created and interactive tales. These amusing, delightful and moving stories speak to my experience of being autistic in a non-autist world.
Wild Women Tales
A collection of tales of women whose wildness manifests itself in both the fantastical and the mundane. Stories both traditional and newly created, interspersed with song, take the audience from mysterious happenings in the arctic, through the darker side of 1920s New Orleans, on to the wilds of East Anglia and blood-soaked Irish shores. (Adults only)
Darklove
Darklove is a raucous, banterful celebration in story and song of the darker side of affairs of the heart, performed solo or as a duo featuring the distinctly adult poetry of poet Suki Silvertongue. Sex, Zombies and dismemberment – now that’s what we call a night out! (Adults only)
Visit the Darklove website here
Storm from the East
A collection of marvellous, magical tales that capture the glorious quirkiness and mysterious beauty of the place I live and grew up in, East Anglia. Can be performed solo or as a collaborative piece with one or more other East Anglian tellers.
